I’ve been incredibly moved today by the brilliant Maya Krishna Rao’s solo performance WALK, in response to the rape and murder of an Indian medical student in Delhi on December 12th 2012. The following link was filmed at the Jaipur Literature festival on January 26th 2013 and speaks to us all. I highly recommend it:

It speaks to the slut walks, the women reclaiming the night, the current scandals in the UK, in India, in Egypt and elsewhere about the abuse of women, this nonchalant misogyny which has to stop. It speaks to men, it speaks to women, it seeks to unite.

Thanks Kaite, this is so powerful…
I saw her perform at the Delhi Rising event (as part of One Billion Rising) and I had goosebumps. It was such a powerful performance and very apt and timely.
